# Talentless AI

> Talentless AI is an AI-native production studio in Austin, Texas, founded and led by Steve Mudd (2026 AI Leadership Award, Austin AI Alliance). The studio produces AI video for film/TV productions, brands, and live events; creates original AI microdramas under the Backlot74 slate; and teaches AI adoption through training, coaching, consulting, and keynotes. Tagline: "We're AI, so you don't have to be."

Agrees that most AI video is slop, defines what slop actually is (volume without intent, nothing thrown away), takes the fear underneath the hostility seriously, and draws the line between generating and making. Separates the quality complaint from the serious one underneath it, which is economic: a handful of companies consolidating enormous power using material other people made. Steve Mudd's position is that he is downstream of that concentration and benefits from it, and also that a small Austin studio is not where the power is accumulating, so hostility aimed at individual practitioners is aimed at the reachable target rather than the responsible one. Includes five questions for telling real AI work from slop. "AI slop" was named word of the year by Merriam-Webster, Macquarie, and the American Dialect Society.
