Which AI video model is best?
There isn't one, and any page that gives you a single winner is either selling that model or was written a while ago. As of August 2026 the leaderboards disagree with each other, they use different scoring anchors so they cannot be compared directly, and the ordering changes every few weeks. The useful question is which model is best for a specific shot, which depends on whether that shot needs multi-subject motion, legible text, a compositing-ready file, native audio, or a face that matches the previous take.
What happened to Sora?
OpenAI discontinued the Sora web and app experiences on 26 April 2026, and the Sora API shuts down on 24 September 2026. No successor has been announced. This matters if you are reading comparison guides, because a large amount of currently published advice still treats Sora as a live option and becomes wrong on that date.
What should I use instead of Sora?
It depends what you were using it for, because Sora was doing several jobs and no single model replaces all of them. For coverage with several subjects moving at once, Seedance. For sequences that have to cut together or anything with readable text on screen, Kling. For hero shots and live iteration in front of a client, Gemini Omni Flash. For shots starting from an approved still, MiniMax H3. For anything heading into grading or compositing, Luma Ray, because it exports files a finishing pipeline will actually accept.
Do my Sora prompts work on other models?
Not cleanly. Every model reads a prompt differently, and a prompt refined over months against one model is refined against that model's specific habits. Budget for re-tuning rather than copy-paste, re-lock your references and seeds, check whether the new model produces native audio, and move one finished shot across as a test before committing a delivery to it. Also get your existing work exported before 24 September, since that is the one item with a hard deadline.
Is there a Veo 4?
No. As of 30 August 2026 Veo 3.1 is still the current Veo, with a Lite version and upscaling added on 3 April 2026. Google's frontier video work now sits under Gemini Omni Flash, announced at I/O on 19 May 2026, with Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash reaching general availability for developers on 27 August 2026.
Which model do you use at Talentless AI?
All of them, and the choice is made per shot rather than per project. Model casting is a step in our process the same way casting an actor is. A sequence can easily use three different models: one for the multi-subject coverage, one for the shot with a product name that has to stay readable, and one for the hero shot that goes into finishing. Being tied to a single model means bending the work to fit the tool.
Should I pick one model and standardise on it?
For an internal team learning the craft, standardising on one model is a reasonable way to build fluency, and we teach it that way. For production work it costs you. Every model on the current board has a documented weakness, usually admitted by the company that built it, and standardising means inheriting that weakness on every shot you deliver.
How do you keep up with this?
We test continuously and we date everything. This page carries a verification date for that reason. Between February and August 2026 a flagship model was discontinued, two frontier models shipped, the leading open-weights model changed hands, and the top of the main leaderboard changed several times. Anything written about this without a date on it should be treated as undated.
Are there legal issues with AI video models?
Yes, and they are live. The Disney, Universal and Warner Bros. case against Midjourney, covering both image and video, survived a motion to dismiss in May 2026. A class action was filed against Twitch and Amazon on 20 August 2026 over training video models on creator streams. The NO FAKES Act cleared Senate Judiciary in June 2026 and is not law. We handle rights and provenance as part of delivery rather than leaving it for a client's legal team to discover later.
